The Staff Selection Commission or SSC conducts the SSC JE exam for the recruitment of Junior Engineers. The exam is conducted once in a year. The detailed SSC JE Notification will be announced on the official website on 28th January 2019. SSC JE written exam is conducted in two phases-Tier I (Paper I) and Tier II (Paper II). Candidates can visit the official website and can start applying from 28th January and the last date to apply is 25th February 2019. This commission is an attached office of the Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT) which consists of Chairman, two Members and a Secretary-cum-Controller of Examinations. His post is equivalent to the level of Additional Secretary to the Government of India.

SSC conducts the JE exam so as to select the best Junior Engineers in departments like the Central Water Commission, Central Public Works Department, Military Engineering Services andDepartment of Posts. Eligibility Criteria

Before applying for the exam, candidates must ensure they meet the following SSC JE eligibility criteria:

Nationality/Citizenship

A candidate should be either:
a) a citizen of India, or
b) a subject of Nepal, or
c) a subject of Bhutan, or
d) a Tibetan refugee who came to India before the 1st January 1963 with the intention of permanently settling in India, or
e) a person of Indian origin who has migrated from Pakistan, Burma, Sri Lanka, East African countries of Kenya, Uganda, the United Republic of Tanzania, Zambia, Malawi, Zaire, Ethiopia and Vietnam with the intention of permanently settling in India.

There is age relaxation for candidates belonging to reserved categories:
i. SC/ST – 5 years
ii. OBC – 3 years
iii. PH – 10 years
iv. PH (OBC) – 13 years
v. PH (SC/ST) – 15 years
vi. Ex-Servicemen (General) – 3 years after deduction of the military service rendered from the actual age as on the closing date on receipt of online application.
vii. Ex-Servicemen (OBC) – 6 years (3 years+3 years) after deduction of the military service rendered from the actual age as on the closing date on receipt of online application.
viii. Ex-Servicemen (SC/ST) – 8 years (3 years+5 years) after deduction of the military service rendered from the actual age as on the closing date on receipt of online application.

Salary: Rs.35,400 – 1,12,400/- PM

Application Fees

The application fees for SSC JE is Rs 100 for general category applicants. Women and applicants belonging to SC/ST, Physically Handicapped or Ex-Servicemen are exempted from paying the application fees. Application fees for SSC JE can be paid online as well as offline. Applicants can pay the fees online through SBI Net Banking or through Debit Cards / Credit Cards of any other banks. Fees can also be paid offline through SBI Challan.

Selection Process & Exam Pattern

SSC JE has a two-stage selection procedure – Tier I and Tier II. 

 Tier I is a Computer Based Objective Test while Tier II is an Offline Written Descriptive Test. Applicants need to clear Tier I in order to appear for Tier II. The SSC JE exam pattern for both the stages are as under:

Tier I or Paper I consists of three sections, namely- General Intelligence and Reasoning, General Awareness and General Engineering. The paper carries 200 marks and has a total time duration of 2 hours.

Steps to apply for SSC JE Recruitment 2019:

Step 1: Visit the official website of Staff Selection Commission- ssconline.nic.in.

Step 2: Click on the registration link and register yourself for the exam.

Step 3: Note down the “Registration ID” and “Password”.

Step 4: Enter the “Registration ID” and “Password” to log in to SSC JE application.

Step 5: Fill in your “Personal”, “Educational” and “Contact” details.

Step 6: Upload your recent “Photograph” and “Signature”.

Step 7: Click on the “Submit” button to submit the application form.

Step 8: Proceed to pay by clicking on the “Payment” option and make payment of SSC JE application fees.

Step 9: Take a print out of the application form for future use.

SSC JE Admit Card will be released on the official website of SSC i.e ssc.nic.in. Applicants are advised to download the admit card as soon as it is out to avoid any last minute technical snag. SSC JE Hall Ticket will be available online and no offline copy for the same will be delivered to applicants via post or by any other means.
